With Easter approaching, I have been talking with my daughter about the Easter story. The humble donkey plays a significant role in the story of Easter. According to the Christian Gospels, Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey – recognized as an animal of peace in Eastern culture – an event which is marked in the calendar by celebrations on Palm Sunday.
D for Donkey Craft with Printable Template
This adorable donkey craft uses a printable template, Felt and a CD to make a project suitable for farm animals, mammals, letter D theme, Bible theme or just for fun.
Supplies needed to make this D for Donkey Craft:
- Printable Template
- Grey Felt or Construction Paper or craft foam sheets
- Beige Felt or Construction Paper or craft foam sheets
- Black Felt or Construction Paper or craft foam sheets
- An old CD
- Scissors
- Glue Gun or Glue stick if using paper.
- Googly Eyes
Steps to make this D for Donkey Craft:
Print the Craft template on an A4 or Letter Sized paper. Cut out all the parts – the Grey Head, ears, muzzle, nostrils & mouth.
Use these cutout templates as your reference points and trace them onto Felt. We used a 2mm stiff felt to make this craft. Alternately, you could use construction paper or craft foam in similar colors.
Use a Glue gun ( when using felt) to secure the donkey’s head on top of an old CD. Glue the ears behind the CD. and the muzzle on top.
Finally, glue on the Eyes, add nostrils and Miss wanted the donkey to be happy so we added a smile!
This printable D for Donkey craft is perfect for Kids aged 5 and above and improves their fine motor skills, visual perception, and hand-eye coordination. Parents and teachers can also make these at home or in class and have their children or students assemble them independently. These crafts can be made by teachers and used as props, puppets, or even for classroom decoration.
