Famous Artists Free Printable Puzzle and Art Appreciation Worksheet

Sharing is caring!

There’s a quote that goes, ‘An artist is a child who didn’t put down his crayons’.

Leave a little child alone with any art material – paints or crayons and watch her create!

Without any kind of instruction or guidance, kids can create their own kind of art; the purest kind. This only goes on to show how deeply embedded art is in our souls.

As kids grow older, learning about other artists whose lives revolved around this soulfulness can be a wonderful experience.

Our Famous Artists Series is a great way to introduce kids to each artist individually through art and craft projects. However, if your child is just starting out, a lite version would work better – which is why we’ve put together this Famous Artists Free Printable Puzzle and Art Appreciation Worksheet –10 Page art resource for parents & educators.

When talking about each artist’s work, ask your kids if they notice any identifying characteristics.

Will these help them identify the artist simply by looking at a painting? Art is deeply personal; each one of us will interpret each piece differently.

Ask kids to talk about how the art makes them feel and to guess how the painter may have been feeling.

Let them also think about technique. How must the brush strokes have been drawn? Would they like to put that painting in their room? You’ll be surprised at the answers you get – kids can be unexpectedly perceptive!
