Tell me a little about your Venture?
Karaashilp – “Hand Craft” is a passionate venture started by a “retired IT” professional purely for the love of all things hand-made.
We believe in reuse and conservation of resources around us and hence sensitive towards what we discard.
This was the idea when our first range of products – Upcycled Denim bags, upcycled home decor and accessories was launched on September 1st, 2011.
We are a one-stop shop for hand-crafted, contemporary, functional, lifestyle products. Our product portfolio caters to the “Eco” & “Premium” ranges.
Karaashilp-Eco range has bags,totes, home decor, jewellery & accessories all upcycled from various materials like denim, cocoons, discarded wine/beer bottles,
cds, takeaway restaurant containers etc.
Karaashilp- Premium range also has the above categories with a difference that all new materials are used.
We collect old, disposable denims/cargos/coudroys in Bangalore to make these exclusive, speciality bags/totes/home decor and personal accessories. we also specialize in upcycling discarded cocoons to make unique home decor products like chandeliers/full size door curtains.
What made you start this venture? and When?
Sitting in the boring confines of lifeless cubicles in the corporate world for over 9 years, I was always dreaming of creating and making new things once back home. I was always more inclined to creating things by hand.Crocheting and knitting was my passion.I loved experimenting with stuff lying around the house which were no more usable and make them functional .It was time to step out of the Virtual world and step into Reality. India has diverse art forms, colors, materials and it always encouraged me to learn more and more. “Karaashilp” was born out the need to learn, share and showcase talent.
Where do you ship to? – Within India only / International?
Currently shipping all over India…but if there is an opportunity, we can ship out of India too.
