Description
Introduce students to Georgia O’Keeffe with this beautiful Georgia O’Keeffe-Inspired Poppy Flower Art Activity
Inspired by O’Keeffe’s close-up floral paintings, children will color, cut, layer, and arrange poppy petals, leaves, stems, and flower-center pieces to create their own bold botanical artwork.
This printable project makes an artist study approachable for young learners while supporting creativity, fine-motor development, and an understanding of how separate shapes can be layered to build a complete picture.

How Students Create Their Artwork
Students begin by selecting the poppy pieces they would like to use. They can color the black-and-white templates with crayons, markers, colored pencils, or paint, or use the colored versions for a quicker project.
Next, students carefully cut out the petals, flower center, stem, and leaves. They arrange and layer the pieces to create a large poppy composition, then glue everything into place. Students may follow the completed example or experiment with their own layout and color choices.
