Tell me a little about Canary Crate & the people behind it?
Originally set up by Deepshikha Mehta (ex journalist who has worked with TOI and Child magazine amongst other media houses for over 12 years) and Anurag Rana (NID alumni who has worked with Fab India). The objective of the venture was to help children discover their own creative place. Canary Crate activities enable Pretend Play that is fast disappearing in the age of gadgets. They encourage experiential and contextual learning, without the pressure for conformity. They thus encourage individual interpretations of the creative product. Parental involvement is essential for many reasons.
Most of the time we spend with our children is completing homework or teaching in one way or another. Outdoor play is limited to similarly aged peers. We felt the need to introduce activities that are fun for both parent and child, which have learning buried somewhere beneath the layers of fun. Canary Crate activities are engaging, creative and open a window for parents to approach learning in a fun environment.
Every month, we launch a new theme. Three activities are designed around this theme. There is information related to the theme presented as poetry, riddles, songs etc inside the box. There are also online resources to learn more about the theme. A surprise gift is included in every box which is a small trinket like fridge magnet, key ring etc.
Where do you ship to? – Within India only / International?
The company is based out of Gurgaon. A lot of mompreneurs who run workshops have contacted us to improve upon the substance of their workshops. We ship all over India and shipping is free of cost.
