Teacher Appreciation Card – Stack of Books

Teacher Appreciation Week is 6th – 9th May 2014 in the US, and Teacher Appreciation Day is 6th May. In India Teacher’s Day is on 5th Of September.  This card is perfect for Teacher Appreciation Day and Week, and ofcourse they are also great for end of year “thank yous”.

“A teacher is a compass that activates the magnets of curiosity, knowledge and wisdom in the pupils.” – Ever Garrison

For many formative years, teachers are one of the most important adults in a child’s life & nothing says Thank you like a handmade card for the Teacher.  A quick “thank you” note or email takes a moment to write and send but the pleasure it gives is enormous.  Last year we made a gorgeous Pencil shaped card, so the kids wanted another  shaped card.

I decided to keep it simple this year.  Opened PowerPoint and made a stack of books .. 3 rectangles placed on top of each other  slightly misaligned. Converted to pdf and printed on white card stock. The kids colored the books using crayons. I took printouts of my favorite apple image that said #1 Teacher. Pinned it on top. .. For the inside, I printed a Chalkboard image that said Happy Teacher’s Day.

For this craft, you will need –

  1. One A4 size card stock in white
  2. Crayons in different colors
  3. Scissors
  4. Glue
  5. Markers to write your name & teacher’s name inside

To make –

  1. Download the free template.
  2. Take a print on an A4 size paper .
  3. Cut out the book card along its outer edge .
  4. Cut out the white board
  5. Cut out the Apple
  6. Now carefully fold the book shaped cutout in half.
  7. Cut out the extra bits to make the card look like 4 books are stacked on top of each other.
  8. Ask your child to colour each book in a different colour using crayons or pastels. Make sure the front & back of the card have the same colours.
  9. Now stick the White board image inside the card.
  10. Using coloured or glitter pens , add your Teachers name & your name in the space provided
  11. Stick or staple the apple to the front of the card on top of the first book.
