However, there is another group of people who were enamoured with outer space – but not with the science of it; they were impressed by the art!

Stunning Space-Themed Paper Art Project

Supplies required:

Colored craft paper
Cardboard
Craft glue
Pencil
A pair of scissors
Markers

How to make the Space-Themed Paper Art Project:

1. Download and print the Space-Themed Paper Art Project Template. The template contains the basic outlines of the different layers of the art project as well as the many pieces to place between the layers such as rockets, asteroids, planets and moons.

2. Trace the parts of the template on craft paper of the appropriate colors and cut them out. You can use colorful craft paper for the smaller pieces, but keep Earth blue and green – we don’t want to change that! We’ve used yellow and orange for the asteroids, and grey for the moon. Keep the layers of the art project a dark neutral, like navy or dark purple. You can also use a combination of two colors.

3. Let’s start with our home planet – Earth! Stick the green cutouts on the blue circle that represents water.

4. Use blue and green markers to trace the outline on the green parts and the blue base.

5. Since planet Earth is done, it’s time to tackle the moon! Take the moon cutout and use a dark grey marker to trace the outline and craters of the moon. Put the moon and Earth aside.

6. Let’s move on to the rocket next. Attach the nose to the top of the rocket and stick the small circle on the rocket base. Apply glue on the straight edges of the fins.

7. Attach the fins to the sides of the rocket base. Stick the smaller flame cutout inside the larger flame and attach it to the bottom of the rocket.

8. Use markers in matching colors to trace outlines on the rocket parts. The rocket part of your space-themed paper art project is done!

9. Time to make things interesting with some asteroids! Stick the small circles inside the asteroid cutouts.

10. Use markers to trace an outline on the asteroid patterns. They look fiery now!

11. We’re moving on to the next phase of our space-themed paper art project – preparing the layers. Make sure you cut out all the circles inside the layers carefully. Cut out 12 cardboard strips to use between the layers.

12. Start by placing the base layer on a flat surface and sticking four cardboard strips along the four sides of the square base.

13. Apply glue on top of all four cardboard strips.

14. Place the layer with the smallest circle on the glued cardboard strips. Now, repeat steps 12 and 13 with the cardboard strips.

15. Stick the layer with the second smallest circle on top of the cardboard strips. Repeat steps 12 and 13 with the cardboard strips.

16. Continue this way, adding each layer one by one in increasing order of circle size, separating them by cardboard. You should finally have a base that looks like this.

17. Time to bring back all the small pieces you prepared in Steps 3-10! Arrange them any way you like in between the layers of your space-themed paper art project.

That’s it – your gorgeous space-themed paper art project is ready and it looks amazing!
