Cute Crab Corner Bookmark Papercraft
Here’s a cute little crab corner bookmark that you can make entirely out of paper! You don’t need to know any advanced techniques either – it’s easy!
When we were kids, one of the first things we did when bored was reach for a book. If whatever was home didn’t seem interesting, we borrowed from our friends, cousins or neighbours. I remember reading late into the night, completely engrossed in a fantasy tale!
However, these days, I can barely read a couple of pages before getting distracted. The situation is worse when it comes to kids. The National Literacy Trust reports that reading levels in children have fallen to their lowest level in twenty years, with only 35% of 8 to 18-year-olds enjoying reading in their free time.
If you’re looking for ways to help your kids stick to a reading habit, we’ve found that cute bookmarks help! That’s why we’ve got you a cute Crab Corner Bookmark Papercraft to try, and kids are sure to love it!

Supplies required:
- Colored craft papers
- Scissors
- Craft glue
- Pencil
- Sharpies
How to make the Crab Corner Bookmark Papercraft:
1. Download and print the Crab Corner Bookmark Papercraft template. The template includes parts of the crab corner bookmark, like the eyes, cheeks, legs and pincers. It also includes a square which will become the crab’s body, i.e., the base of our bookmark.

2. Trace the parts of the crab on craft paper of the appropriate colors and cut them out. You can make your crab in any color that you like. We’ve chosen orange, but you can also try red or yellow. Choose plain white for the eyes and pink for the cheeks.

3. Let’s start with the base of our crab corner bookmark, the square. Fold it in half, diagonally, so you get a triangle.

4. Hold the top corner of the top layer and fold it all the way to the opposite side.

5. Fold up the right corner of the triangle to meet the top corner, so you get a little triangular flap.

6. Fold the flap in half and tuck it inside the triangle pocket at the bottom.

7. Flatten the right flap so it sits neatly.

8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 on the left side. Turn the bookmark around so that the folded flaps are on top and the unfolded part faces down.

9. Cut a curved edge on the unfolded bottom part of the crab corner bookmark.

10. Turn the bookmark to the other side.

11. Time to assemble our crab! Stick the eyes near the top corner of the bookmark pattern.

12. Glue the cheeks near the left and right corners of the bookmark pattern, under the eyes. Take out your black Sharpie and draw a smile.

13. Attach the crab’s pincer claws on either side of the bookmark, sticking below the crab’s eye level.

14. Apply glue on the straight edges of the crab’s legs and stick them to the curved edge. Make sure you stick only to the top layer, or else you’ll glue the whole bookmark shut!

That’s it – your cute little crab corner bookmark is done!

What we love about this crab corner bookmark is that the crab doesn’t just hold on to the page, its raised pincer claws also seem to be calling out to you – “Hey, it’s reading time!” In this world of endless screens and distractions, this little guy acts like your very own analog reading reminder. And it doesn’t hurt that he’s adorable!
