When people think about making crafts, they often think about needing several supplies and lots of skill. You may even think that you need a visit to the craft store before you start getting crafty. However, there’s one thing you can make with almost no skill and with just paper  – Origami!

Origami is proof that simplicity is beautiful, and just plain paper can turn into anything you like. While most of us are aware of standard Origami, there are some other types as well.

Popular Types of Origami

  1. Modular Origami – This uses two or more pieces of paper, and results in a complicated model
  2. Action Origami – This kind of Origami creates models that can move, like flapping, or hopping
  3. Wet Folding – Invented by Akira Yoshizawa,  this involves wetting the paper and molding it
  4. Golden Venture – This is a form of 3-D Origami, creating many small triangles and interlocking them
  5. Strip Folding – This involves making Origami models using narrow paper strips
  6. Kirigami – This is not pure Origami, since it permits cutting paper along with folding

Now don’t let these terms scare you! Even if you’re an absolute novice at Origami, you can still create your own model, and we’ve got a super easy Origami crab craft for you today!
