This Cute Paper Bag Red Panda Puppet is perfect for kids to learn more about endangered animals, especially for Endangered Species Day!

There aren’t many movies directed by female directors in Hollywood, particularly when it comes to animated feature films. So when we find out that the first-ever Pixar film to be directed by a woman features an adorable Red Panda, we’re over the moon!

Red pandas are special in many other ways, as these fun facts will show.

• Red pandas are closer to raccoons and skunks rather than the black and white giant panda
• These animals prefer being active in the evenings and night, and like sleeping in the day
• Red pandas share some common features with the giant panda – thumbs and a love for bamboo
• They use their poop to demarcate their areas
• There are less than 10,000 red pandas in the wild

It’s a good time to talk about Red Pandas since this is the month of Endangered Species Day, and red pandas are considered ‘endangered’ currently. This means that it’s also the perfect time to make a red panda craft, and this paper bag red panda puppet is an easy one to try!

Cute Paper Bag Red Panda Puppet for Kids

Supplies required:

• Craft paper in multiple colors
• Markers
• Scissors
• Glue

How to make the Paper Bag Red Panda Puppet:

1. Download and print the paper bag red panda puppet template. The template contains parts of the red panda puppet, including the head, tummy, ears, lower face, eyes, eyebrows, feet and tail. 

2. Trace the parts of the template on craft papers of the appropriate colors and cut them out. It’s a red panda, so obviously, you’ll use shades of red, like orange and brown for the panda. 

3. Stick the pink inner ears inside the larger outer ears with glue. 

4. Now attach the ears to the back of the red panda’s head, applying glue to the back. 

5. It’s time to take out your markers. Color in some stripes on the sides of the mouth of the paper bag red panda puppet. Use a black marker to draw a nose and smile. This is also a good time to draw some stripes on the red panda’s tail. 

6. Now that the mouth part of the paper bag red panda puppet is complete, stick it on the lower part of the red panda’s face. 

7. Let’s finish up the face of our paper bag red panda puppet! Stick on the eyes and the eyebrows and the face is done!

8. Let’s put aside the red panda’s head and move on to the body. Cut out an orange piece of paper the same size as the front of the paper bag. 

9. Stick the tummy to the base of the orange paper.

10. Attach the feet to the bottom of the red panda’s body, applying glue to the back. 

11. Apply some glue to the end of the tail and stick it to the back of the body piece.

12. Now that the body is done, stick it on the front of the paper bag, just below the folded flap. 

13. Your final step is to stick the head on the folded flap of the paper bag and that’s it – your paper bag red panda puppet is done!
