Have you heard of a children’s show that has won 5 International Emmy Awards and a British Academy Children’s Award? It’s a show that’s centered around a certain farm animal who has hilarious adventures as he tries to have fun with his friends on the farm.

Yes, we’re talking about Shaun the Sheep!

I remember watching the show with my daughter when she was little, and I admit I was probably more amused by it than she was! It’s one of those shows that is light but funny without insulting your intelligence. And I love that the protagonist is a well-intentioned sheep!

Shaun doesn’t really want to create trouble – he wants to make life more interesting for his friends on the farm, and that just leads to some unexpected (and hilarious) consequences. So today we celebrate Shaun’s spirit of doing good with a cute and easy crumpled paper sheep craft!

Supplies required:

  • Colored craft papers
  • White craft tissue paper
  • Pencil
  • A pair of scissors
  • Craft glue
  • Sharpies

How to make the Crumpled Paper Sheep Craft:

1. Download and print the Crumpled Paper Sheep Craft template. The template contains parts of the sheep, like body, head, legs, and ears. The template includes parts for two sheep, so you can use both or one.

2. Trace the parts of the template on craft paper of the appropriate colors and cut them out. Choose thick craft paper or cardstock for this project since you need some weight to hold the crumpled paper bits. You can choose a light brown or grey for the sheep’s body and head, along with pink for the ears. As for the tissue paper, let’s stick to white – unless you want to go the ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’ route!

5. Let’s put aside the head and body and move on to the fun part of our crumpled paper sheep craft – the sheep’s wool! Cut the white tissue paper into squares of side 2″. You’ll need at least 30 squares to cover up your sheep’s body.

6. Now comes the fun part! Crumple all the tissue paper squares into little balls. If you think the balls won’t be enough to cover the sheep’s body, go ahead and cut out some more squares.

Draw the nose and mouth using a marker, but instead of drawing on the eyes, stick on googly eyes. Now you have your very own version of Shaun the Sheep!
