I designed this full color 26 vertical cards sequencing Alphabet game for my nephew. He is 3.5 and is crazy about Dinosaurs. This has a prehistoric scene spread across 2 Letter size sheets, each with 13 vertical puzzle pieces that need to be put together to reveal the dinosaur land.
We printed the two puzzle mats at home on a Glossy print 120 GSM cardstock. It was too thin to be of any use to us as a puzzle mat, so we laminated both sheets and then cut off the extra white trim.
We love –
For younger kids, cut out blocks of 4 letters along the white vertical lines. This reduces the number of pieces and is easier for them to arrange. Once they get familiar, you can cut out all the 26 letters of the alphabet as separate puzzle pieces. Always start with the Capital letters on the top of the picture. Ask them to recognize the letter & say the letter sounds out loud. As they line up each alphabet in the correct sequence the dinosaurs are revealed. The pictures are bright and colorful. You could use this printable and play a game of I Spy – Spot the eggs, the volcano, the T-rex . Count the clouds, Count the dinos. Practice colors – I spy a purple T Rex and an orange Stegosaurus. Use this to talk about the prehistoric age when Dinosaurs ruled and how it is different from today.
The lower part of each card holds the corresponding lower letter alphabet. You can assemble the puzzle pieces following the smaller letters or further cut the puzzle lengthwise to make 26 x 2 = 52 cards.
