Speaking of that – besides the costume, what is it that you need for trick-or-treating? A treat bag, of course!

Now, you can carry a plain paper bag or shopper, but you can carry them any day, right? Halloween is a special event, and we need a treat bag that’s just as special!

That’s why we’ve brought you some adorable DIY Halloween treat bags for kids to make and carry with them. They’re big enough for a decent collection of treats, and they come in multiple characters so you can choose your favorite!

2. Let’s start making the DIY Halloween treat bags by getting our base paper bag ready. Choose a color that goes with the character you’re choosing, like orange for the Jack-o-Lantern, grey for the bat, white for the ghost and purple for the alien. Start with a large rectangular piece of paper and fold it into half horizontally.

3. Make a thin fold from the open edge, folding inwards, as shown above. Now turn it over so you have a rectangle with the short edges facing up and down.

4. Fold about one-third of the bottom edge upward and try to open it up as shown in the image below.

5. Make a fold in this opening, so you get a diamond shape. Now fold the top corner of this diamond downward, as shown in the image above.

6. Fold the bottom corner upward so it overlaps the fold in the previous step, so it looks like the image below.

7. Cut out a curve in the top edge of the paper bag – the base of your DIY Halloween treat bags is now ready!

8. Trace the parts of the Jack-0-lantern – eyes and stem – on craft paper of the appropriate colors and cut them out.

9. Stick the eyes on the top of the treat bag, and the stem on the top. Use a marker to draw a nose and mouth.

10. Use a pink marker to color in cheeks below the eyes.

11. Open up the bag so the bottom is flat and you now have space to put things inside.

The first one of your DIY Halloween treat bags is ready! Now you can follow the same process for the remaining bags, with a few changes. For the bat, stick ears on top and wings on the sides. The alien has horns, while the ghost has arms. The candy corn treat bag will need two stripes of different colors so you get the tricolor effect.

You can either make just your favorite Halloween character bag, or you could go ahead and make the whole set. Maybe you and your friends could pick the one you like and go out trick-or-treating together!
