Handmade Crepe Paper Flower Cards
This Mother’s Day surprise your mom with these DIY camelia like Handmade Crepe Paper Flower Cards!
I always loved crepe paper. I remember how my mother would make a paper flower on occasion and how I admired it. Naturally, I wasn’t skilled enough as a kid to make a flower on my own as tissue paper can be a bit delicate. Luckily when I grew up my love for this craft remained and my skills improved.
With Mother’s day coming up, I decided to make cards with Miss P to gift to my mom & mother in law. As they all deserve something unique they will each be getting a bouquet of fresh flowers and this
Handmade Crepe Paper Flower Card
Supplies needed:
- Blank Greetings cards and envelopes
- Crepe paper ribbons or party streamers in red, magenta yellow and green
- Pipe cleaners
- Washi Tape
- Glue stick
- Scissors
Procedure to make the crepe paper flower card:
Start by cutting out 4-inch strips of red & yellow crepe paper streamers. They will form the petals and stamens of the flower. Next cut the pipe cleaners in half so that they fit the length of your blank card. The pipe cleaners will serve as flower stems.
Layer the 3 strips on top of each other and twist in between.
Twist the top end of the pipe cleaner at the center of the paper strips and secure tightly. Now fold both the sides at the center. It is already resembling a flower now.
Using scissors, cut thin strips of the yellow crepe paper to form the stamens. Then using your thumb and forefinger lightly press the red crepe paper to help the flower bloom. The next step is to crinkle your crepe petals. This gives them texture so that they resemble real flower petals.
Now using glue stick, glue some long strips of green crepe paper onto a blank card to form leaves. Secure in place using washi tape.
These are great to make all year round and they do make a perfect gift or decoration for any occasion – I was thinking the other day they would also make a one of a kind bouquet and there would be no fear of flowers wilting.
