Cute Handprint Black Cat Craft for Kids
If you’re looking for a black cat craft this Halloween, you’ll love this cute handprint black cat craft, made entirely out of colored craft paper!
Have you ever wondered why witches are shown to be accompanied by black cats? What’s the connection between them?
I did a bit of digging, and apparently, it’s because people believed that black cats acted as spies for witches, sneaking around and gathering information from everywhere. They probably also caught the frogs and mice that witches needed for their magical potions.
Well, there are so many versions of this tale, including a kids’ book! The book talks about a witch’s black cat named Pepper, who finds it hard to make friends. What’s he going to do? Well, you’ll have to read the book to find out!

Supplies required:
- Colored craft paper
- Pencil
- A pair of scissors
- Craft glue
- Black sharpie
How to make the Handprint Black Cat Craft:
1. Download and print the Handprint Black Cat Craft template. The template includes the cat’s head, body, eyes, nose, ears and hat.

2. Trace the parts of the template on craft paper in colors of your choice and cut them out. Since this is a handprint black cat craft, the head and body will be black, obviously! Use pink for the ears, nose and cheeks, and white for the eyes. As for the hat, you can choose green, purple or any color of your choice. Pick a contrasting color for the stripe – we’ve gone with orange. Lay out all the pieces after you’ve cut them out.

3. Glue the ear cutouts in the appropriate position on the cat’s head.

4. Take out your black sharpie and draw pupils on the eye cutouts. Fill in the remaining area with a yellow Sharpie, so it looks like the cat’s eyes light up. Stick the eyes in the middle of the cat’s head.

5. Stick the cat’s nose in between the eyes, at a slightly lower level. Attach the cheeks on either side of the cat’s head, a little below the level of the nose.

6. We did mention that this was a cute handprint black cat craft, so use that black Sharpie to give our cat an adorable smile!

7. Assemble the hat by sticking the stripe on top of the hat brim.

8. Attach the completed paper hat on top of the cat’s head with glue. He’s beginning to look good!

9. Apply some glue on the palm edge of the handprint, and stick the cat’s head here.

10. There’s no need for an extra tail – the fingers are the cat’s legs, while the thumb becomes the cat’s tail. To make this a little more obvious, pick up that black Sharpie and draw a line inside the tail and add some paws to the legs.

That’s it; your handprint black cat craft is done and he’s looking super cute! We think the witch hat is a nice touch, and gives the cat an extra zing – not that he needed it! Black cats have an aura by themselves, and we think this craft has captured it perfectly well, don’t you?
