Supplies required:
- Colored craft papers
- Pencil
- A pair of scissors
- Craft glue
- Sharpies
How to make the Rocking Elf Papercraft:
1. Download and print the Rocking Elf Papercraft template. The template contains parts of the elf, including the head, ears, hands, hat, belt, buckle, sleeves, and rocking base.
2. Trace the parts of the template on craft papers of the appropriate colors and cut them out. You can use red or green for the outfit, and choose a contrasting color for the hat trim and belt. We’ve used pink for the elf’s face, ears and hands, but you can also try beige or brown.
3. Okay, now that we have all the parts ready, let’s begin assembling our rocking elf papercraft! Stick the pointy ears on either side of the elf’s head, applying glue to the back of the head. Stick the hat’s trim on the lower edge of the hat.
4. Complete the hat by sticking the small pompom circle at the pointy end. Now that’s a cute elf hat!
5. Use glue to stick the hat on top of the elf’s head. Next, attach the nose in the middle of the face.
6. Time to bring out your Sharpies! Use a black one to draw eyes and a mouth. Take a pink Sharpie and shade in the cheeks and inner ears.
7. Attach the elf’s hands to the ends of the sleeves. Cut slits near the opposite edges of the buckle square. Insert the belt through these slits as shown below.
8. Put everything aside and take the base of the rocking elf papercraft. Fold along the thin flap as shown below. You now have a semicircle.
9. Apply glue on the folded flap and stick the opposite end of the semicircle. This will give you a cone. The open end of the cone will be the base of your rocking elf papercraft, and the pointy end will be the top.
10. Attach the belt to the base so that the edges of the belt align with the two edges of the base.
11. Take the arms of the elf and apply glue on the ends opposite to the hands. Attach the arms on either side of the base, just above the belt.
12. All that’s left to do now is to apply some glue on the pointy end of your rocking elf papercraft base and stick the elf’s head on it.
It’s done – your adorable rocking elf papercraft is complete! Now go ahead and make more in different colors!
This rocking elf papercraft is an enjoyable project for kids of all ages, and even little ones can make it with the help of a parent or an older sibling. The best part is that after making it, they can have fun rocking the elf to and fro – this is one elf that cannot run away from you!
