Have you noticed how elegant flamingos look? With that graceful neck, those long legs and that stance, they sure are a bunch of fancy birds! That’s probably one of the reasons they have a special day – International Flamingo Day on 26th April!
What is International Flamingo Day?
Okay, we’re kidding – this day isn’t because of how fancy flamingos are, although that’s not a bad reason to celebrate these creatures! This is the birthday of American ornithologist John James Audubon.
Audubon was also an artist, and he is known for a picture of the Caribbean flamingo that he produced for the book, ‘The Birds of America’. In his honor, the Flamingo Specialist Group of the IUCN decided to celebrate a day dedicated to flamingos, and to help preserve the four flamingo species that are under threat.
Coming back to how fancy flamingos are, it’s only right to make some fancy flamingo crafts! Today, we’ve collected some easy and elegant flamingo crafts for kids, which are simple enough to make, but without compromising on style!
This assortment of crafts includes a wide variety of materials, from regular craft supplies like pipe cleaners, pom poms and craft paper to recycled elements like mason jars, CDs and even a bath loofah! Read on to find out more!
