Cute Toilet Paper Roll Koala Craft for Kids
Here’s how you can turn a plain cardboard tube into a cute little Toilet Paper Roll Koala Craft for Kids! All you need is craft paper & a paper roll!
There are a lot of things that animals eat, that are also a part of our diet, like fruits and vegetables. Animals also eat grass and leaves, which may not exactly be things we put on our plates!
But did you know that there’s an animal that eats stuff that is poisonous to us? We’re talking about the koala, that eats eucalyptus leaves, which is toxic to nearly every creature on the planet!
This is because the koala has a digestive system that can detoxify the poisonous substances in the leaves. This probably also explains why the koalas choose to live in the eucalypt forest – there’s always enough food available!
Today we’ve got a cute craft that features a little koala holding on to a branch of eucalyptus leaves. All you need for this craft is an empty toilet paper roll and some craft paper – let’s go!
Cute Toilet Paper Roll Koala Craft for Kids
Supplies required:
- Empty toilet paper roll
- Colored craft papers
- Craft glue
- Pencil
- Sharpies
- A pair of scissors
How to make the Toilet Paper Roll Koala Craft:
1. Download and print the toilet paper roll koala template. The template contains a rectangle to cover the toilet paper roll, along with parts of the koala, like the head, ears, nose, cheeks, arms, legs and tail.
2. Trace the parts of the template on craft paper of the appropriate colors and cut them out. You can choose grey or brown for the koala’s base, black for the nose and pink for the cheeks. Don’t forget the rectangle – the width should be the same as the height of your toilet paper roll.
3. Let’s start with the koala’s head – stick the inner ears inside the outer ears.
4. Now attach the ears to the back of the head. It should look like the ears are popping up from behind the head.
5. Glue the nose in the middle of the koala’s face. Your toilet paper roll koala is beginning to take shape!
6. Time to make our koala cuter than he already is – by adding some pink cheeks! Stick them on either side of the nose, placing them slightly lower.
7. Let’s finish up the koala’s face with some Sharpies. Use a black Sharpie to draw eyes and a little smile.
8. Let’s put aside the koala’s head and move on to the body. The body of our toilet paper roll koala is basically the empty toilet paper roll. Let’s get it ready by covering it with a rectangle piece of craft paper, having the same width as the height of the toilet paper roll.
9. Time to put everything together! Turn the head with the back facing up. Apply glue on the back of the head and stick it to the top edge of the toilet paper roll so it looks like this.
10. Something’s missing, right? Yes, our koala doesn’t have any limbs! Stick the arms on the toilet paper roll, right under the head. Attack the legs near the bottom edge of the toilet paper roll, so that the legs are parallel to the arms.
11. Attach the tail to the toilet paper roll, so that the tail faces the direction opposite to that of the arms and legs.
12. If you like, you can cut little thin strips from craft paper and attach them to the koala’s arms. Now, you don’t want your koala to go hungry, do you? Let’s cut out a branch and leaf from light brown and green craft paper respectively. Stick the leaf to the branch and place it between the arms, as shown below.
That’s how you make an adorable toilet paper roll koala craft with an empty cardboard tube! You can make koalas in brown and grey, or create a pair in the same color. Don’t forget to give them some leaves to munch on!
