Super Cute Handprint Koala Craft for Kids
Here’s a super cute Handprint Koala Craft for Kids to make with basic craft supplies – and their handprints! Great for learning about marsupials!
Isn’t it annoying when people repeatedly misspell your name, or call you by something else, or think you are something you aren’t? We’ve all been there, so we can imagine exactly how frustrated koalas must be – by being called bears when they aren’t!
Yes, koalas are furry, and they do kind of look like cute mini bears, but the fact is that they’re marsupials. This means they have more in common with a kangaroo than a panda! Aaron Blabey has a fun book describing this koala predicament – here are some more interesting recommendations for koala books.

Supplies required:
- Colored craft papers
- Pencil
- A pair of scissors
- Googly eyes
- Craft glue
- Sharpies
How to make the Handprint Koala Craft for Kids:
1. Download the handprint koala craft template. The template includes parts of the koala like the head, ears, nose, cheeks, and tail, as well as a branch and leaves. There is also a set of handprints in case you don’t want to use your own.
2. Trace the parts of the template on craft papers of the appropriate colors and cut them out. You can choose grey or brown for the koala’s head and tail, pink for the cheeks and ears, and black for the nose. The handprint needs to be in the same color as the head – or it’s going to look a little strange!
3. Let’s start our handprint koala craft with the two largest pieces – the head and the handprint/body. Lay the handprint so that the thumb is pointing up and the fingers are to the side. Stick the head on top of the thumb.
4. Attach the little tail to the koala’s bottom, which happens to be opposite to the fingers.
5. Stick the pink ear cutouts in the middle of the ear shapes on the koala’s head. It’s starting to look good!
6. Time for the face of our handprint koala craft! Stick the nose in the middle of the head, and the cheeks on either side.
7. Attach two googly eyes on the head, above the nose.
8. Finally, take out your black Sharpie or marker and draw a cute little mouth right under the nose. Oh wait, we nearly forgot – the branch! Stick the leaves to one end of the branch and attach the fingers of the handprint to the branch so that it looks like the koala is hanging from it. That’s it – your handprint koala craft is complete!
This handprint koala craft is really easy to make, and this makes it a fun project to go with a lesson about marsupials, Australia or endangered animals. This is a great way to learn about these amazing creatures, while having fun!
