Horton Hears a Who Dr Seuss Craft
Dr. Seuss’ birthday is coming up soon and we thought we’d have a little celebration around here.
“A person’s, a person, no matter how small”
A favourite Dr. Seuss book and now a movie, Horton Hears a Who! is the endearing tale of an elephant to listens to and rescues Whoville – a tiny town full of tiny people named ‘Whos’ that is a speck of dust on the top of a pink clover. Kids will love hearing about Whoville – and Dr. Seuss’s usual whimiscal and magical illustrations make this book memorable. Let’s make a Horton!
Horton Hears a Who Dr Seuss Craft
Materials:
- Grey cardstock
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Green pipe cleaner
- Pink pom-pom
- Pencil
- Googly eyes
Steps to make the Horton Hears a Who – Dr Seuss Craft
We cut out a 6 inch by 12 inch rectangle from the grey cardstock. I drew Horton’s head & ears in the center top.
Miss P carefully, cut along thepencil drawing and then we cut out half the rectangle that would form Horton’s back. Fold the ears to make them pop out.
Time to make Horton’s trunk. Cut out a rectangle about 1/2 inch wide and 5 inches long and roll it around a pencil.
When you unfurl, it should stand up like an U. Let it rest for some time.
Roll and staple the back to form a cylinder. We tried to glue it, but it wouldn’t hold. You could use a paper tape too.
Using a glue-stick paste the trunk onto center of Horton’s face. Add googly eyes and Horton is ready to explore.
Stick a pink pom-pom on top of a green pipe cleaner to make Horton’s clover. Piece it through the paper trunk to show Horton holding the clover. That’s it, the craft is ready.
We had a really fun day and it was a great way to celebrate one of our favourite authors! Happy birthday in advance Dr. Seuss! Here’s an image you can pin
