Simple Popsicle Stick Snowman Craft for Kids
Who says a snowman has to be round? This Popsicle Stick Snowman Craft proves that you can have a snowman in any shape you like!
One of my childhood dreams is to spend Christmas in a place where it snows, so that I can make snow angels and build a snowman. I’ve even planned out exactly how I’ll dress him!
However, for now, that’s still a dream, and while I do plan to make it a reality one day, for now, I’ll make do with snowman crafts. And we’ve got a cute and easy one for you today – a Popsicle stick snowman craft that doesn’t need too many supplies!

Supplies required:
- 5 Jumbo Popsicle sticks
- 2 regular Popsicle sticks
- X-acto knife
- Hot glue
- Pencil
- Acrylic paint
- Paintbrush
- Marker
How to make the Popsicle Stick Snowman Craft:
1. We start our craft by getting the Popsicle sticks. While you can use the same size of Popsicle sticks for the entire craft, we think going for 5 jumbo sticks and 2 regular sticks for the snowman to look proportionate.
2. Three of the jumbo sticks will be used as they are. Use a sharp X-Acto knife to cut the other two jumbo sticks as shown in the right side of the image below. You will end up with a piece having a curved edge and an angled edge (this will be the snowman’s hat), a piece with two angled edges, and a tiny piece with a curved edge and an angled edge for the snowman’s muffler. Finally, you’ll have a tiny triangle piece too. Cut the smaller sticks in half.

3. The whole three jumbo sticks will form the main body of the Popsicle stick snowman. Place them side by side so that the middle stick is slightly above.

4. Connect the three sticks with the cut smaller sticks, placing them at an angle to form a ‘V-shape’ as shown in the image below. Use glue to secure the sticks in place. These are the arms of the snowman – yes, our Popsicle stick snowman has arms!

5. Take the jumbo stick piece with a curved edge and a diagonal edge and stick it at the top of the base so that the curved edge juts out a little from the left end.

6. Turn the entire craft over – this is now the front of your Popsicle stick snowman.

7. Pick up the stick piece with two angled edges and stick it across the middle of the snowman, slightly above the exact centre. Attach the small stick piece with the curved edge directly under this stick, as shown below. The snowman’s scarf is done.

8. Finally, stick the little triangle stick nose above the scarf. The assembly of your Popsicle stick snowman is done!

8. Let’s begin painting our snowman! Start with the carrot nose by painting it orange.

9. Paint the snowman’s ‘arms brown. Fill in the base jumbo sticks with white, staying clear of the scarf and the nose. Take your pencil and draw eyes and a smile on the snowman’s face above the scarf. Draw a few buttons on the middle jumbo stick, right under the scarf.

10. Use a black marker to draw over the pencil lines drawn in the previous step, both on the face and the buttons.

11. Time to add the final touches! Paint the top parts of the jumbo sticks and the hat piece with red paint. Apply the same paint to the scarf. Finally, pick up your pink marker and draw cheeks on either side of the snowman’s mouth.

Your Popsicle stick snowman craft is complete and it’s looking amazing! You can stick a magnet on the back and make it a fridge magnet. Or you can attach a ribbon to the top of the stick and turn it into a DIY ornament. It’s also a fun thing to put into someone’s stocking – they’ll love seeing such a cute thing in it!
