When we moved into a rented apartment recently, we encountered a problem of a different kind. Pink walls.. Though they were nice n peachey, my husband thought it was too girly a color. So started my quest to give the pink living room a sophesticated chic look. Some tips if you are sailing in the same boat.
Pink is a color that can be very versatile to use when you are decorating. Because of the different shades that are available you can give your room a perky look or a more romantic and gentler look. For the most impact you should make sure that the shades of pink you use compliment each other and make the room look unified.
The Best way to do that is to take pictures of existing furniture, the wall, and decor items you would like to integrate. Create a pallette. Sample shown below.
Once you have this ready, you can carry it to the shops and select accessories which closely match your requirement.
I picked up Full length Sheer cotton curtains from Safina plaza for 180 Rs each, Some pillow covers, Photo frames from Home Town, Some Silk Lilies & silk plants from @Home and this is the final result.
In pink rooms, pink roses are a must. Have them in very many places throughout the room. They do not need to be bright pink and they can be a more subtle shade of pink. Have them in vases on the table stands. Have them in pictures that you hang on the wall. Be sure that you also have some white items in your pink room also. White is an excellent color to accentuate the pink.
Black and white looks softer with flashes of pink, and chocolate brown with shocking pink is a fabulously rich combination.
Also, by adding other hues like yellow or gray, you can soften or morph the color to be pink with an attitude of peach and fool the eye.
Some fab houses in pink ..

and in peach ..
