However, there is one craft that requires nothing but just paper – something everyone has at home. Yes, we’re talking about the Japanese art of Origami!
For Origami, all you need is paper – any color or pattern will do. And if you feel intimidated by the images of complex Origami creations on the internet, we’re here to tell you that anyone can make Origami – even a beginner!

Simple Origami Carrot Craft for Beginners
Supplies required:
- Colored craft papers
- Craft glue
- Sharpies
- A pair of scissors
How to make the Origami Carrot Craft:
1. Let’s begin by selecting paper for our Origami carrot craft, and since this is a carrot, we’ll go with orange and green. Cut out one square of 15 cm from the orange paper and two squares of 7.5 cm from the green paper.
2. Take the orange square and fold it diagonally in both directions. On unfolding, you’ll get diagonal lines crisscrossing each other as shown below.
3. Fold the square in half along any diagonal crease so you get a triangle.
4. Fold one end of the triangle upward towards the base.
5. Similarly, fold the other edge upward to meet the previous fold. Now you have an elongated diamond shape which is the base shape of our Origami carrot craft.
6. Now, fold the short diagonal edge towards the middle crease.
7. Repeat step 6 on the other edge.
8. Now turn the entire paper over so the back is now in front. The carrot part of your Origami carrot craft is complete!
9. Time to move on to the green part of the carrot, so take one of the green squares and fold it in half diagonally. Unfold so you get a diagonal crease running down the middle.
10. Fold both corners on either side of the diagonal towards the center, so you get a kite shape.
11. Turn the current pattern over so the back comes to the front.
12. Fold a 1 cm edge from the long sides towards the center. One leaf is done.
13. Repeat steps 9-12 with the other green square paper. Now you have a carrot and two leaves.
14. You’ll notice that there is a tiny ‘pocket’ at one end of the carrot. Apply some glue to this part and tuck the green leaves into this pocket.
15. Cut out some eyes and pink cheeks from colored craft papers.
16. Use glue to attach the eyes and blush on the carrot and use a sharpie to draw the mouth. You can add more details if you want to.
That’s it, your Origami carrot craft is complete! You can try it with different shades of orange and green, so you get a nice variety of carrots!
You can avoid cutting out eyes and cheeks and simply draw them on with markers if you like, or just leave your Origami carrots plain – like an Origami purist would!
