If you’re a parent of a preschooler, it’s unlikely you haven’t heard of the ‘Peeepppa Pig’ song! Most kids of that age love the show, regardless of which country they’re from or even if they understand the language completely!

While Peppa Pig is the main character, her family and friends are also quite interesting characters that deserve credit too!

Fun Facts about Peppa Pig’s Family

  • Mummy Pig has a computer job, volunteers with firefighters, writes books and is a great cook
  • Daddy Pig is a world champion in muddy puddle jumping, plays football and is great at diving
  • George loves his green dinosaur toy and has a den shaped like a castle
  • Grandpa Pig built a miniature train called ‘Gertrude’ and also owns a boat
  • Granny Pig is a bit of a hoarder and is known for her excellent chocolate cake

Supplies required:

  • Plain white paper plate
  • Craft paper in multiple colors
  • Craft glue
  • Pencil
  • Colored Sharpies or markers
  • Scissors

How to make the Paper Plate Peppa Pig Family Craft:

1. Download and print the DIY Peppa Pig family puppets template. The template includes patterns for the faces and bodies of Peppa Pig, Daddy Pig, Mummy Pig and George Pig,  like ears, nose, eyes, arms, legs and bodies.

2. Trace the parts of the template onto craft papers of the appropriate colors and cut them out. We have used pink for all the body parts, green for Daddy Pig’s shirt, orange for Mummy Pig’s dress, red for Peppa’s dress and blue for George’s shirt.

3. Let’s begin our paper plate Peppa Pig family craft with the star, Peppa! Start by sticking the nose at the end of Peppa’s snout.

4. Stick the ears on top of the head.

5. Attach the eye circles on Peppa’s head. Use a black Sharpie to draw small dots inside the eyes.

6. Let’s finish up Peppa’s face! Use a black Sharpie to draw a smile, and a pink Sharpie to draw a cheek and nostrils.

7. Moving on to the body, attach the arms and legs to the dress with glue.

8. Time for assembly! Stick the head on top of the body as shown in the image below.

9. Now stick the little tail to the back of the dress, and that’s it – the first member of our paper plate Peppa Pig family is done!

10. Follow the steps 3-9 for the remaining characters. Assembling the basic body parts is the same for all members; the only thing different is that Daddy Pig has glasses and facial hair.

11. Once all the members of the paper plate Peppa Pig family are ready, let’s move on to the background. Cut out a circle from blue craft paper, making it just enough to fit inside your paper plate. Cut out a semi-circle of the same size from green craft paper.

12. Stick the blue circle inside the paper plate with glue. Then stick the green semi-circle on top of that so that you now have a blue half representing the sky and a green half representing the grass.

13. All that’s left to do now is to place your characters in the background! Arrange them any way you like, and then use glue to stick them in place on the green half. The usual setting is Daddy Pig and Mummy Pig in the back, with Peppa in front of Daddy Pig and George in front of Mummy Pig. Your paper plate Peppa Pig family is now done!

While the making of this paper plate Peppa Pig family craft is enjoyable in itself, you can also turn this into a wall hanging. Simply punch two holes at the top of the paper plate and make a look with ribbon or string. Use this to hang it in your child’s room and they’ll be delighted!
