Cute and Playful Pirate Paper Craft for Kids
Aaargh!! This cute pirate paper craft will bring out your inner pirate – the fun kind, we hope! Easy craft for preschoolers and young kids.
When you think of pirates, what’s the first image that comes to mind? Yes, it’s got to be Johnny Depp, who played the charming rogue, Captain Jack Sparrow!
Of course, the popularity of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise doesn’t mean that we underestimate other iconic pirates of our childhood, like Long John Silver from Treasure Island or Captain Hook from Peter Pan. It’s true; pirates have been popular for quite a while!
While piracy today means something quite different from what traditional pirates on ships did, we still think of the latter whenever anyone mentions pirates. That’s why we thought we’d have some fun today with a cute and playful pirate paper craft!

Supplies required:
- Craft paper in different colors
- Markers or Sharpies
- Scissors
- Glue
How to make the Pirate Paper Craft:
1. Download and print the pirate paper craft template. The template includes parts of the pirate, like the body, hat, bandanna, face, bottom, shoes, eye, eye patch, skull and crossbones.
2. Trace and cut out the parts of the pirate paper craft on craft paper of the appropriate colors. You can use any color you like, but we’ve gone with a nautical theme using red, blue and white.
3. Let’s start by assembling the pirate’s headgear – his hat! Use your black marker to draw three holes in the skull.
4. Now stick the skull and the crossbones on the hat, placing the skull above the bones. We’re getting pirate vibes already!
5. Let’s assemble our pirate now, so he can wear his hat! Stick the head portion on the body base.
6. Now attach the bottom of the pirate paper craft with glue. These are his pants – or shorts, whatever you like!
7. Let’s cover our pirate’s head with a bandanna, sticking it on with glue.
8. Let’s complete the pirate outfit by attaching his boots.
9. Yes, you guessed it – it’s time to attach the pirate hat on his head! Make sure you can see the bandanna from underneath.
10. Now, no self-respecting pirate worth his (sea) salt would be seen without his eye patch, and our pirate paper craft is no different! Stick on the eye and the eye patch, making sure it extends diagonally all the way from the edge of the hat to the edge of the face.
11. Get out your colored Sharpies and draw some stripes on our pirate’s t-shirt. You can use any color, although red would be a classic.
12. Pirates may be known to be sullen, but not our pirate paper craft! Give him a cute little button nose and a smile so he looks cheerful.
13. That’s it – your pirate paper craft is complete! You can also make a version without the hat and with only the bandanna. Maybe the guy with the hat can be captain, and the other one his side kick!
I know pirates are probably not meant to be cute, but we’re not sorry this pirate paper craft has turned out to be absolutely adorable! Make multiple pirates in different colors for more fun! You could attach these little guys to jumbo craft sticks and use them as puppets. Maybe you can put up a show that features good pirates instead of the usual evil ones and include some of our DIY puppets too!
