Cute and Easy Turkey Hug Bookmark Papercraft for Thanksgiving
Here’s a turkey ready with a hug for you! This Thanksgiving, enjoy making this cute turkey hug bookmark out of craft paper – for you or your pals!
Why do you think a turkey would run away on the eve of Thanksgiving?
Well, the obvious answer would be that it didn’t want to end up on a plate, but not the turkey in Adam Wallace’s book – this turkey ran away because of stage fright!
This is the plot of the hilarious children’s book ‘How to Catch a Turkey‘, and there are many more like it!

Supplies required:
- Craft paper in different colors
- Pencil
- A pair of scissors
- Craft glue
- Sharpies
How to make the Turkey Hug Bookmark Papercraft:
1. Download and print the Turkey Hug Bookmark Template. The template contains parts of the turkey, including the head, body, wings, beak, tail and feathers.
2. Trace the patterns of the template on craft paper of the appropriate colors. You can choose any shade of brown for the turkey’s body, head and wings, and a shade of beige for the tail and feet. As for the feathers, let’s have fun with a riot of colors! We’ve chosen Fall-specific colors like red, orange and yellow.
3. You see that little piece with a flat edge and a squiggly edge? Stick that on the turkey’s body, ensuring the flat edges align.
4. Our turkey hug bookmark needs its feet, so attach the little beige feet to the bottom of the body. Stick the yellow beak in the middle of the turkey’s head.
5. Apply glue on the top edge of the body, and stick the turkey’s head here. Our turkey hug bookmark is beginning to take shape!
6. Time to give our turkey wings! Apply a thin line of glue on the flat edges of the two wings and stick them on the left and right sides of the turkey’s body, taking care to align the edges. Make sure the curved ends of the wings are free – we need them to hug!
7. We’re going to add some details to our turkey’s face! Stick the wattle right next to the beak. Attach the little round cheeks on either side of the turkey’s face – it’s beginning to look cute!
8. Okay, let’s put aside the turkey for now and focus on the tail. Stick the feathers in side the tail, so that the curved edges of the feathers are inside the curved edges of the tail, as shown below. The tail is looking quite grand!
9. Apply some glue on the middle (blank) area of the tail, and attach the turkey’s body to it. Use a black marker to draw some eyes on the turkey’s face. There you go – your turkey hug bookmark is complete!
10. To use the turkey hug bookmark, slide the edge of the page between the wings and the body of the turkey.
How cute is this little guy? He’s perfect for those turkey-themed books we mentioned at the beginning or any other book you’re reading right now! Make some for your friends too, as a cute little handmade Thanksgiving gift!
