We’ve got an adorable papercraft chipmunk bookmark craft for you today, perfect to celebrate the cute animal on World Chipmunk Day in March!
If you ask any person who lives outside North America if they’ve heard of chipmunks, they’re sure to say “Yes, Alvin and the Chipmunks!” That’s how popular this little animal is, even though it lives almost entirely in North America!
Yes, of the 25 species of chipmunks, 24 live in the region from Canada to Mexico. They’re a member of the squirrel family, which explains the resemblance between them. Here are some more fun facts about chipmunks.

Supplies required:
- Craft paper in brown, white and pink
- Scissors
- Glue
- Markers
How to make the Papercraft Chipmunk Bookmark Craft:
1. Download and print the papercraft chipmunk bookmark template. This template contains parts of the chipmunk, including the head, body, outer tail, inner tail, face, abdomen, hands, eyes and cheeks.
2. Trace the parts of the template on craft paper. We’ve gone with a light shade of brown as well as white, to stick to the chipmunk’s natural colors as far as possible.
3. Let’s get the base of our papercraft chipmunk bookmark ready first. Stick the face of the chipmunk on its head, and the abdomen on its body, lining it up with the bottom. Now stick the head on top of the body.
4. Assemble the tail by sticking the inner part (white) on the outer part (brown). Then use glue to attach the tail to the body, applying glue on the back of the body.
5. Stick the eyes on the intersection of the face and the head of the papercraft chipmunk bookmark. Attach the tiny nose in the center of this intersection. Stick the cheeks on either side of the chipmunk’s face. Take out your marker and draw a cute little mouth.
6. Finally, stick the hands on the body, taking care to apply glue only to the upper portion of the hands, and leaving the lower part free. Your papercraft chipmunk bookmark is now ready!
To use the papercraft chipmunk bookmark, place the chipmunk behind the page you want to mark and insert the page between the chipmunk’s hands, as shown in the image. We love how the chipmunk seems to ‘hug’ the page – like it can’t wait for you to continue reading!
This is a cute little gift you can make for your friends and classmates – perfect when going on summer break or even as a back to school gift. And if you’re planning quite a bit of reading this summer, you know who’d be the perfect partner for it!
