Easy DIY Flower in Hand Card for Kids
Here’s a fun DIY Flower in Hand Card for kids to make for any occasion – Mother’s Day, Teacher’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day or just like that!
“I must have flowers, always, and always.” ~
That’s a statement Claude Monet must have made from the heart, considering how much his work focuses on flowers! Many other artists’ve made flowers the main feature of their work – Vincent Van Gogh, Georgia O’Keeffe and others.
If you’re also someone who loves flowers, or if you have someone like that in your life, you’ll enjoy today’s craft project – a Flower in Hand Card! This is a super easy card made with just craft paper, so go ahead and get crafting!

Supplies required:
- Colored craft papers
- Cardstock paper
- Craft glue
- Pencil
- Sharpies
- A pair of scissors
How to make the Flower in Hand Card:
1. Download the Flower in Hand Card template. The template includes parts of the flowers like the petals, circles, leaves, and stems as well as the hand to hold the flowers.
2. Trace the parts of the template on craft papers of the appropriate colors. A light color is ideal for the card, like white, off-white or even sky blue. Let the hand be a color of any skin-tone, like tan or light brown. We’ve chosen red for the petals, yellow for the centers and obviously, green for the stems and leaves!
3. Let’s start making the flowers of our card. We begin with the circles – cut around the circle in a spiral pattern, as shown below.
4. Now that we have our spiral, it’s time to turn it into a tight center. Start coiling the spiral strip from the outer edge and keep the coil as tight as you can without tearing the paper.
5. Continue to coil the spiral pattern until you reach the center. Secure the coil in place by applying glue to the edges.
6. Time to make the flower of our flower in hand card! Stick the coiled center in the middle of a flower shape. It’s looking pretty!
7. Repeat steps 3-6 with the remaining two flowers.
8. Take the thin green stem strips and attach the flowers to one end of the strips.
9. The flowers of our flower in hand card are nearly done! Take out your leaf cutouts and fold them in half, vertically. Stick them on the stems, right before the flowers, as shown here.
10. Put away the flowers for now. We’re moving on to the base of our flower in hand card – the card! Fold a rectangle of cardstock in half as shown below.
11. Take the hand cutout and stick it on the card, so that the ‘wrist’ end aligns with the card’s fold. Make sure to apply glue only on the palm – the fingers should be free.
12. Time to bring back our flowers! Stick one flower stem across the four fingers, as shown below.
13. Take the remaining flowers and arrange them on either side of the first one, lowering them a little. It should look like the hand is holding the flower bunch, keeping the stems crossed. Secure the flowers in place with glue.
14. Just one more step left! Fold the tips of the fingers inward, over the flower stems. Now it looks like the flowers are firmly in the grip of the hand.
There you go, our flower in hand card is complete! You can go ahead and make multiple of these, trying out different skin tones, and different colors of flowers.
Isn’t this a pretty little card? We love the way the hand grips the flowers – it makes it look like the giver really wants you to have those blooms! Another thing we like is that this is quite an open-ended card that you can use for pretty much any occasion!
