I personally think that summer reading gets a little overhyped. I mean, it’s not a bad time to read, but it’s also the season for many other summer activities like blowing bubbles, playing with water balloons, and as Ken would say, ‘Beach’!

It’s time to celebrate other times of the year as reading times too, like spring reading, Christmas reading, or the most fun – Halloween reading!

Don’t these sound like a lot of fun? Once you’ve got a book for Halloween, you certainly need a way to hold your page, and that’s why you’ll love today’s Halloween Bookmarks papercraft!

Halloween Bookmarks Papercraft for Kids

Supplies required:

Craft paper in different colors
Sharpies or markers in different colors
Pencil
Scissors
glue

How to make the Halloween Bookmarks Papercraft:

1. Download and print the Halloween Bookmarks papercraft template. The template includes pieces for making four different Halloween Bookmarks – Dracula, Mummy, Witch, and the Frankenstein monster. The parts include the body, hair/hat, outfits, and extras like screws, bow etc.

2. Trace the parts of the template on craft papers of the appropriate colors and cut them out. You can go with purple, black, and red for Dracula, green and black for Frankenstein, white and tan for The Mummy and black and purple for the witch. Yes, it’s a kind of mix-and-match going on here!

3. Let’s start with two characters from our Halloween Bookmarks papercraft – Frankenstein and Dracula. Take the bases of both characters, which will be green for Frankenstein and purple for Dracula. Stick the hair pieces for each character bookmark on the top. Stick black squares at the bottom for pants.

4. Moving on to the upper bodies, stick a grey square for Dracula’s shirt, and two purple rectangles for the two sides of Frankenstein’s shirt.

5. Stick a slim white strip in the center of the shirts of both characters.

6. Now that the basic parts are done, it’s time to add the finer details! Let’s go with Count Dracula first – being a count means that he needs a cape, and we’ve gone with a bright red cape and bow.

7. Stick the bow at the top of the white strip. Now take out your markers and draw facial features – eyes, nose and smile. He looks cute, so let’s add some pointy teeth to make him both cute and menacing!

8. The final touch is to stick the cape behind Dracula, applying glue only at the top and leaving the cape flow freely at the bottom. Count Dracula is ready!

9. Let’s move on to the second of our Halloween Bookmarks papercraft characters – Frankenstein! We have already prepared our base – now stick on the screws on either side of his head, just below the ears.

10. Nearly there! Use a black marker to draw eyes, nose and a smile, as well as a little scar on Frankenstein’s forehead. Add some buttons on the white stripe on his shirt and that’s it – he’s ready!

11. Let’s move on to the next Halloween character – the pretty witch! Start with a tan colored base, and stick a long black rectangle to make the witch’s robe. Stick on the purple piece in front of her robe and a star at the top of it.

12. Stick the orange hair piece on the top of the bookmark. Assemble the hat by sticking an orange band on it and then sticking it on the hair. Complete the face with colored markers and your witch bookmark is ready!

13. Three down, one to go! As with the witch, start with a tan-colored base and stick the large bandage pieces on it, attaching the narrow bit on the top edge. Now take out your markers and draw lines to represent bandages criss crossing the Mummy. Draw some facial features and your last Halloween Bookmarks papercraft is ready!

This Halloween Bookmarks papercraft is really basic and easy to use. Simply insert in your book at the page you’ve stopped reading and it’ll be there the next time you pick it up!
