Easy Handprint Cactus Papercraft for Kids
Here’s a cute & easy Handprint Cactus Papercraft for Kids to try out this summer! Use the handprints provided or use the outline of your own hands!
Sometimes life is hard – it’s simply the nature of life. But then, just when things appear bleakest, you suddenly get a little burst of sunshine – and you are suddenly filled with hope that things are going to be alright!
I’ve always been reminded of this whenever I see a flower bloom on a cactus. It’s amazing – that something so prickly and hardy can produce something so beautiful and delicate. Nature is truly the best teacher!
However, not all cacti bloom, in case you’re thinking of having one at home! Some bloom easier than others, but if you really want a cactus that puts on an impressive flower show, go for species like Mammillaria, Gymnocalycium or Parodia.
But if you think that’s too much work, we’ve got a shortcut for you – an easy handprint cactus papercraft! This is a cactus that comes with its inbuilt flowers, which you can customize any which way you like. No watering or repotting needed – just a bunch of craft paper and you’re set!

Supplies required:
- Colored craft papers
- Craft glue
- Pencil
- Sharpies in different colors
- A pair of scissors
How to make the Handprint Cactus Papercraft:
1. Download and print the handprint cactus papercraft template. The template includes parts of the cactus, like handprint, planter, and flower. You can also use your own handprint instead of the one provided. Place your hand on green craft paper, draw an outline around it and cut it out.
2. Trace the parts of the template on craft papers of the appropriate colors and cut them out, except the handprint if you’re using your own. The cactus handprint will obviously be green, and the planter can be a brown or orange. The flower can be any color you like – pink, purple or red. Keep the center in a contrasting color so it stands out from the petals.
3. We begin our handprint cactus papercraft with the main element – the handprint! Take a green Sharpie that’s a shade darker than your handprint cutout. Use it to draw an outline inside the handprint.
4. Similarly, take another Sharpie that’s a shade darker than the planter. Draw an outline inside the planter using it.
5. Now let’s assemble the craft! Apply some glue on the top flat edge of the planter and stick the handprint on it so that the fingers point up. Look at the image below for reference.
6. Time to draw an outline for your flower! Take a Sharpie that’s the same color or a slightly darker one for this purpose.
7. Stick the flower center in the middle of the petals. Now take the same Sharpie you used in Step 3 and draw some tiny spikes all over the fingers and palm of the handprint.
8. Only one step left – attaching the flower! However, there are multiple ways to do this – you can stick it on the index finger or the middle finger of the cactus handprint.
Or you can fix it on the ring finger or even the thumb – whatever rocks your boat! You can even go ahead and stick multiple flowers on a single cactus – no one’s stopping you!
There you go, your handprint cactus papercraft is complete! If you like you can add a few details to the planter – we’ve just kept it really simple, so that even the little ones can have a go at this craft!
