Many animals and birds are associated with certain qualities, which are so popular that simply mentioning the animal reminds you of it! For instance, owls symbolize wisdom, dogs loyalty, and foxes are popularly associated with slyness!

In reality, are all foxes sly and scheming? Well, it is believed that this idea probably came about since foxes are quite resourceful, and know how to make the best of any situation. If you ask me, that’s quite an admirable trait to have!

So we’re going to get resourceful too – we’re going to turn handprints and paper into a cute little handprint fox papercraft! This is an easy craft that kids of all ages can make – with just basic craft supplies!

Cute Handprint Fox Papercraft for Kids

Supplies required:

Colored craft papers
Pencil
A pair of scissors
Craft glue
Sharpies

How to make the Handprint Fox Papercraft:

1. Download the Handprint Fox Papercraft template. The template includes parts of the fox, like the head, face, ears, and tail. It also includes a handprint, in case you don’t want to make one yourself. If you do, all you need to do is to get a child to put down their hand on paper, and ask them to stay still while you draw an outline of the hand with a pencil. If you have trouble getting your little one to sit still, go with the template!

2. Trace the parts of the template on craft paper of the appropriate colors and cut them out. It’s a little easier in this handprint fox papercraft since many parts are plain white and you can use the template patterns as is. For instance, the ears, face and tail are white – only the body and head need to be another color. You can choose orange or any shade of brown for the fox, to keep it natural.

3. Let’s start by assembling the head of our handprint fox papercraft. Stick the ears in the pointy ends of the head.

4. Stick the face pattern on the lower half of the head. It’s beginning to look like a fox now!

5. Time to take out your Sharpies. Use a black Sharpie to draw the eyes and nose. If you like, you can attach googly eyes instead of drawing them. Use a pink Sharpie to draw the cheeks of the fox.

6. Put aside the head of the handprint fox papercraft – we’re moving on to the body, a.k.a. the handprint! Attach the tail tip pattern on the tip of the thumb of the paper handprint cutout. The thumb will be the tail of the handprint fox.

7. Use a brown Sharpie to fill the tips of each finger of the handprint, except the thumb. These are the legs of the fox.

8. Time to put everything together! Apply glue to the back of the fox head and attach it to the top of the handprint – i.e. the wrist end. Let the glue dry.

9. Isn’t your fox missing a little something? He looks rather sad – he needs a smile! Take your black Sharpie out one last time and draw a cute little smile under his nose.

There you go – now your cute handprint fox papercraft is complete and it’s looking good!

You can a lot of things with this handprint fox papercraft – you can use it as a bookmark or stick it on a card. You can also turn it into a sibling project with handprints of different sizes.
