What are Paper Quilling Scrolls
A quilling scroll is different from a quilling coil. Coils are held together with glue whereas scrolls are left loose. As a consequence, these strips of paper have a very airy feel to them.
How to Make a Basic V-Scroll:
Take a strip of paper and fold it in half. Unfold it and insert the end into the slotted quilling tool.
For the V-scroll, roll the paper towards the outside of the crease line. Remove the coil from the quilling tool and allow the rounds to relax. Repeat on the other side and arrange the coils to look symmetrical. Arrange the scroll so that it is in the shape of a V.
Steps to Make the Paper Quilled Christmas Tree Card
This project is perfect for beginners and appropriate for kids about 10 years old and up. (Based on your child’s aptitude and interest, of course.) You’ll be able to use the slotted quilling tool to create V scrolls as you work to match up each quilled piece of paper to the pattern to make a Christmas tree craft design.
Make multiple V scrolls using different lengths of green paper & different shades. For the tree, I also added some glue at the center and stuck the V section together as shown
Now line the scrolls small to big and form a Christmas tree shape. Where there are bigger gaps, add some loose coils and glue them in place. Let dry completely.
Let’s make a trunk for our tree. Just roll some brown quilling paper around itself to make a 1-inch trunk. Glue in place. Let dry.
Now carefully stick the tree onto some cardstock to make the Paper Quilled Christmas Tree Card.
Add a Star sticker on top & add a personal message inside to make the card ready. This easy Quilled Christmas tree is an excellent way to enjoy craft time this holiday season.
If you make these Gorgeous DIY Quilled Christmas Trees at home, you may want to loop a bit of string through one of the scrolls on top so that you can hang it on your tree (or so that your child can give away his/her handmade ornament as a gift). You could also use the quilled tree to decorate a beautiful, thoughtful handmade card. There are a lot of ways to use these beautiful paper trees to make your home even more festive this Christmas season! Even more than that, we hope you enjoy the fun memories you make while you create them!
