Sponge Stamped Snowman Craft used as wrapping paper
Do you want to build a snowman? I sing to my daughter and she starts giggling. She loves it when I invite her to craft giving her hints via songs. Most times I just make up my own stupid lyrics and there are silly giggles, hugs and eye rolls! I am crafting at the dining table again, making Christmas themed holiday wrapping papers. Mumma, I want to make some too. It doesn’t snow in Bangalore and Lil P is obsessed with snow and snowmen ever since she has seen Frozen. We even made some Snowman Cards for Christmas , a paper plate snowman, even read lots of story books about snowmen . But this is the first time we made
Sponge Stamped Snowman Craft wrapping paper
Materials to make your own snowman wrapping paper –
- Plain paper – we used an A4 sized blue construction paper
- White paint – we used acrylic paint
- Markers – black, red.
- Washi Tape
- Paint brush
- Sponge brush ( pouncer)
- Tissue paper to dab
- Ribbons & bells(optional)
To make your own –
We used circular sponge brushes in 3 sizes. Using a brush dipped in white paint, we covered the sponge with white paint. Instead of a brush, you can pour some white paint in a dish and dab the sponges in it. Both ways work.
Miss P dabbed the largest sponge brush on the paper . this formed the snowman’s bottom.
Using the same technique, but with a smaller brush, make 2 more circles. One on top of the other. Slightly overlapping.
You can either make your wrapping paper first and then wrap the present, or I like to wrap first and then stamp.
Here we wrapped the gift first and then stamped over the wrapping paper. Using the same sponge, we made snow on the ground by dabbing around the snowman. Using markers add arms, hat, scarf. As you like it.
Miss P added Okra prints as snowflakes. Using black markers, Miss P carefully drew the hats and stick hands.
Red markers for the nose and black marker for the smile again.
We added dots for the smile. My snowmen are happy and they love holding hands. I asked her why she drew four snowmen and not three ( our family) Its ok Mumma, I’m making this for my friends. They are a group of four.
Isn’t that a happy picture ma? Yes! baby they do. We added a ribbon around the gift wrap & bells, well because she wanted them.
