15 Interesting Reptile Crafts for Kids
Reptiles may be slimy, but they’re also very interesting! Learn more about these amazing creatures with our fun and easy reptile crafts for kids.
What animals do you consider interesting? There could be all kinds of answers to this question – kangaroos, llamas, guinea pigs or elephants. Finding someone who thought a snake or iguana was interesting would be quite difficult!
The truth is that reptiles are just as interesting as other more ‘glamorous’ animals – they just have bad PR! With National Reptile Awareness Day coming up on the 21st of October, we think this is a good time to learn a little more about them!
Fun Facts about Reptiles
- Although we think of them as slimy, they aren’t – their skin is actually dry
- Reptiles are ectotherms or cold-blooded animals, which means that they cannot regulate their body temperature internally
- Due to being cold-blooded, they tend to become inactive during winter
- Their skin is usually made of scales, bony plates or a mix of both
- Reptiles shed the outer layer of their skin at regular intervals
- You can find reptiles anywhere in the world – except Antarctica
Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg – there’s so much more to learn about reptiles! But let’s do it the fun way – by making some fun reptile crafts for kids!
