Supplies required:
- Craft paper in assorted colors
- Googly eyes
- Sharpies or markers
- Scissors
- Craft glue
How to make the Rolled Paper Halloween Crafts:
1. We’re starting our rolled paper Halloween crafts with a turkey! Cut out a broad strip of brown craft paper and apply glue at one end.
2. Roll the strip of paper so that the other end of the strip lands on the glued portion. Secure it in place so you have a paper roll.
3. Cut out another strip from yellow craft paper that’s narrower than the brown strip and roll it just like you did with the brown paper.
4. Now place the brown roll so that the sealed part is facing back, and the ‘clean’ part is facing you. Apply glue on the top of the brown roll and stick the yellow roll. Put this aside for now.
5. Take some yellow craft paper and cut out some feet and a beak shape. Cut out a snood from red craft paper.
6. Now take out your yellow, orange and red craft paper. Cut out rectangular strips from these – about 5-6 of each color.
7. Once all your strips are ready, arrange them like a fan, applying glue as you go. Make sure you alternate the colors. You’ll end with a colorful fan like the image below. That’s the tail of your rolled paper turkey!
8. Yes, you guessed it – it’s time to put everything together! Take your rolled paper assembly and stick the beak and the snood that you cut out earlier. Attach the googly eyes with glue.
9. Apply glue to the base of the tail and stick the rolled paper turkey in place.
10. Stick the legs of the turkey to the bottom of the brown rolled paper and that’s it – the first of your rolled paper Halloween crafts is done!
11. Let’s move on to the next rolled paper craft – a black cat! For this, we need a broad strip of black paper and two small rectangles in pink and white.
12. Cut out triangles from black paper to make ears, and stick them somewhat in the middle of the black paper strip. Stick two googly eyes between the ears. Cut out a nose shape from pink craft paper.
13. Stick the nose and mouth under the eyes. Cut out thin strips from white paper to make whiskers, and stick them on either side of the nose.
14. Now apply glue to the top end of the strip, and roll the other end to overlap the glued end.
15. Secure the paper roll in place and the second of your rolled paper Halloween crafts is done!
16. We’re moving on to the next of the rolled paper Halloween crafts – Frankenstein! Obviously, this paper roll will require a broad strip of green craft paper along with a smaller strip of black paper.
17. Cut out a rectangle from the black paper and then cut out a zig-zag pattern at the bottom. It doesn’t have to be neat – this is Frankenstein after all! Stick the zig-zag rectangle in the middle of the green strip.
18. Stick the googly eyes under the hair and use a black marker to draw scars on Frankenstein’s face.
19. From the remaining piece of black paper, cut out two nail shapes and attach them to either side of Frankenstein’s face with glue.
20. Apply glue to the top end of the green strip and roll the other end towards it, overlapping the glued portion.
21. Secure the paper roll in place and the third of your rolled paper Halloween crafts is done! You can make it whackier by using googly eyes of different sizes.
22. We’re moving on to the final part of the rolled paper Halloween crafts – the Jack-o-Lantern. For this, you need a broad rectangle of orange paper and a square of brown paper. You also need a green pipe cleaner for the stem.
23. Use a black marker to draw some eyes somewhat in the middle of the orange strip. Add a nose and mouth under them.
24. Apply glue on the top end of the orange strip, and roll the other end towards it, overlapping the glued area.
25. Cut out a small rectangle from brown paper and stick it on top of the paper roll.
26. Cut out a piece of the green pipe cleaner and attach it behind the stem of the Jack-o-Lantern.
That’s it – all your rolled paper Halloween crafts are complete! This will encourage kids to try out different ways to roll paper and how they can create other characters out of it. Let their imagination run wild and you will be surprised at what they come up with!
