Adorable Mothers Day Kangaroo Craft for Kids

Sharing is caring!

Here’s an absolutely adorable Mothers Day Kangaroo Craft for Kids that features a Mommy Kangaroo and a Baby Kangaroo in her pouch!

Imagine a Mom who has just had a baby, who is still completely dependent on her. Now she gets pregnant again, but her hands are full (literally) and she can’t handle two babies at once. What can she do?

Well, if the Mom is a kangaroo, she can press the pause button on her new baby (called a joey), wait till the older baby is strong enough to manage by itself, and then continue her new pregnancy. This way, each baby gets her undivided attention at any time!

Fun Facts about Joeys

  • When born, baby kangaroos are the size of a bean, weighing under 2 grams
  • Once they’re born, they climb straight into their mother’s pouch on their own
  • Baby kangaroos can’t suck on their own, so the mother has to pump milk into its mouth
  • Joeys stay in their mother’s pouch for about 6 months till they’re ready
  • In case of any crisis, a joey instantly disappears into the mother’s pouch

Well, every Mom has her own special tricks and hacks to deal with the many challenges of motherhood, but the one thing she doesn’t compromise is loving all her children equally. With Mother’s Day coming up on 11th May, it’s the perfect opportunity to remember everything our Moms have done for us, and show them our appreciation! Let’s start by making her a cute little Mothers Day kangaroo craft!

2. Trace the parts of the template on craft paper of the appropriate colors and cut them out. We’ve chosen a light orange for the Mama kangaroo and a light brown for the baby kangaroo. You can also use shades of grey, if you like. Go with a nice contrasting color like red or pink for the heart-shaped balloon.

5. Take the Mama kangaroo’s arms and attach the straight edges along the left and right sides of the body. The arms should face inward, in a diagonal direction. Make sure to leave the curved ends of the arms glue-free.
