25 Pink and Playful Pig Crafts for Kids

Celebrate National Pig Day with these cute and playful Pig Crafts for kids! Make pigs out of paper, cereal boxes, pompoms, sticks and more!
When someone is all hot and sweaty, people tend to say, “You’re sweating like a pig!” You’d think that this is because pigs sweat a lot, when in reality, pigs don’t even have sweat glands!
Apparently, the term doesn’t have anything to do with pigs at all; instead, it refers to raw iron, also called ‘pig iron’ in the iron smelting process. As the hot pig iron cools, small beads of moisture form on its surface, making it look like it’s sweating. Now you know how pigs sweat!

Elephants are also an important part of Indian culture and history. 10 Fascinating Forest Crafts for Kids

The forests are calling! It’s the International Day of Forests this 21st March, and we’re celebrating with a bunch of fascinating forest crafts for kids!
I often feel that with every passing generation, children lose touch with nature more and more. While kids of my grandparents’ generations spent nearly all day outdoors, kids of today spend just a couple of hours or so if they feel like it.
Maintaining a relationship with nature is essential for kids. For one, it gives them an idea of wonders of the natural world, of which they’re also a part. It teaches them the art of co-existing peacefully, how each creature has its own place, as well as how each plant or animal blooms or flies in its own time.
Besides these, the natural world also shows us how dependent we are for many of the things we have taken for granted today. And forests have a big role to play here. With International Day of Forests coming up on 21st March, we think it’s an excellent opportunity to learn about how important forests are, and about all the things we use whose original source is the forest. Let’s go on a virtual forest adventure.

Learning about animals is interesting isn’t it? There’s so much you can learn about not just animals, but about how similar we are in many ways too! For instance, the cat family is a lot like an extended Indian family – there are many members, and even though they look different, they are bound through many similarities!
Here’s a fun game – how many members of the cat family can you write down in 30 seconds? I couldn’t go beyond 8, and imagine my surprise when I found that there are 37 species in the cat family! The most commonly known ones are lions, tigers, cheetahs, leopards, panthers, pumas and of course cats!
Yes, there’s a lot for us to learn about the cat family, let alone the animal world. As with anything, the best way to learn about something is to make crafts about it. Paper Alligator Craft for Kids + Free Printable Template

You might defer seeing an alligator later, but this Paper Alligator Craft for kids is so easy that it doesn’t have to wait! Includes a free template!
You’re sure to have heard the saying ‘See you later, alligator!’ and you may have used it yourself. I have too, generally to my daughter when I’m going out. It was much later that I found out that there was a song based on it way back in the ’50s!
Come to think of it, that’s probably the only time I mention alligators. It’s a pretty random fact, but I tend to use the word ‘crocodile’ much more, often instead of alligator. Which is technically wrong, since they’re different animals!
Here are just a few ways alligators are different from crocodiles:
When crocodiles shut their mouths, you can see a row of their teeth over the top lip. However, when alligators close their mouths, all their teeth are hidden
A crocodile lives for 70-100 years while alligators don’t live beyond 50 years
Crocodiles can live in both freshwater and saltwater, while alligators are found more in freshwater environments
Since we’re on the topic of alligators, why not have some fun learning more about this amazing creature – with a paper craft? Here is an easy papercraft alligator craft for kids, made out of nothing more than craft paper!
