It is believed that Xolotl would take on the form of a salamander when he needed to escape. Xolotl is often represented as a dog, and because of this, axolotls are also called “water dogs.” Now, that’s another unique name!

This amazing feat was achieved by Miles Wu when he won the Junior Innovators Challenge, a national science competition. He experimented with different folding methods and various kinds of paper and finally found a combination that worked. The fold he used is called the “Miura-Ori” fold, named after the Japanese scientist who discovered it, Koryo Miura.

There are many things you can do to cool off on a hot summer’s day, like jumping in a pool or drinking something chilled. However, few things are as refreshing as a delicious frozen popsicle!
There can’t be a child anywhere in the world who hasn’t tried a Popsicle at least once in their life. But how did this simple food item become so popular across the globe?
The Story of the Popsicle
An early version of the popsicle was in 1872, when a duo named Ross and Robins created a fruit-based frozen dessert on a stick, called the Hokey-Pokey.
But the real popsicle as we know today was created by Francis William “Frank” Epperson. When he was 11, Frank accidentally left a glass containing a mixture of powdered lemon soda and water on his porch, with a stirring stick in it. It was a very cold night, and when Frank woke up the next morning and pulled out the stick from the glass, he found that he had made the world’s first ice pop!
In 1922, at the age of 28, he introduced his new product at a fireman’s ball. The ice pops were a hit, and he ended up patenting the frozen ice pop in 1923, calling it the ‘Epsicle’. The first official release of the Epsicle featured seven fruit flavors, and today there are many more!

India’s Independence Day is nearly here, which means you’re going to see the tricolor around a lot! India’s tricolor is made of three equally-sized rectangles, each one a different color – India saffron, white and India green. In the centre of the flag, you’ll find a 24-spoke wheel, named the Ashoka Chakra.
The Indian tricolor didn’t start out this way, though; it went through many changes. Here’s a quick timeline of the evolution of the Indian flag.

Why are school buses yellow?
The standard of making all school buses yellow was proposed by Frank Cyr, an American education expert with over 30 years of experience. He claimed that having all school buses a single color would make it easier to identify them, hence alerting other drivers and improving safety. Another reason was that if all school buses across the country were a single color, it would be cheaper to mass-manufacture them.
So why yellow? Well, by the time this proposal was made, some school districts had already adopted yellow for their school buses, so it was decided to go with it. There’s even a name for this specific shade: National School Bus Glossy Yellow!
While many countries adopted the same color scheme, not everyone did. Yet, some countries still use yellow, in the form of a yellow square or sign on the front and back of the school bus, so other drivers can identify them.
